Hi, I’m Michael.

I came to New Zealand from the UK with my family over 25 years ago and haven’t regretted it for a moment. As a midwife, my wife makes regular deliveries around the Waikato. My three children are adults now, and I have two grandchildren living in London.

Since starting teaching at the turn of the century have taught at all levels from Year 0 through to Year 8. I believe that education is not just about academic learning but also about building strong relationships, fostering a sense of belonging, and creating a supportive environment where every student can thrive. I strive to create a learning space where students feel comfortable asking questions, being curious, sharing their ideas, and exploring their passions at their own pace.

I love the family feel of Horahora School. The fact that many of our students stay with the same teacher for a few years means that our relationships are genuine and respect is mutually forged.

In my downtime, I enjoy renovating, art and drawing, building models, and I keep adding to my ever-growing collection of Millennium Falcons.
