Education Outside the Classroom


 

At Hora Hora School we endeavour to provide opportunities for students to take part in as many EOTC activities as possible.

We participate in all the Cambridge Rural Schools’ Sports events:

  • Term 1 –Swimming Sports
  • Term 2 – Winter Sports day
  • Term 3 – Cross Country
  • Term 4 – Athletics

Historically we have run a three year camp rotation for Years 5-8. Moving forward, we will add a fourth rotation. This will include all students in the Middle and Senior classes.

Likely structure:

2025 - Local Camp (Finlay Park)

Details yet to be finalised, but may include things such as; glow worm trip, kayaking, inflatable obstacle course, rafting and indoor climbing & high ropes.

2026 - Beach Camp (Raglan)

In the past this has included things such as; beach safety, bush walks, coding, technology and orienteering.

2027 - Snow Camp (Ruapehu)

In the past this has included things such as; skiing on Whakapapa or Turoa Skifields, Waiouru War Memorial Museum, Hot pool swims, fishing at the Turangi Trout Centre, Mountain walks and Huka Falls.

2028 - City Camp (Wellington)

In the past this has included things such as; Capital E, Zoo, Observatory, Island Bay Marine Centre, Weta Workshop, Parliament, Zealandia, Te Papa, Treaty of Waitangi viewing.
